When we originally released NCover 5 last year, we were excited to share a lot of great new features including Condition Coverage and even more ways to share coverage results across the organization. In addition, we put a lot of work into making NCover more accessible and easier to use across entire teams. Although we felt like it was a great step forward for NCover, what you, our end users, ended up doing with NCover 5 blew us away.
Teams, Teams, Teams
The adoption of NCover 5 by teams was tremendous. In addition to smaller development teams and QA teams, we saw NCover being used to collect code coverage across continents, to connect legions of virtual machines running every type of testing scenario imaginable and to measure code coverage against really huge code bases. It was amazing. You guys really pushed the limits with what NCover could do!
Faster, Smaller & Even More Team-Capable
With the upcoming release of NCover 5.1, we are striving to keep up that momentum. We have improved data optimization, decreased storage requirements and improved aggregation speeds. NCover 5.1 is by far the smallest, fastest most team-capable NCover ever. How much smaller? Our initial feedback shows many users reducing the size of their data store by 50% or more. Smaller, more efficient data stores mean you can include all of your tests when exercising your largest code base without slowing down. In addition, we’ve added some great command line tools to helping you maintain your data store and even remove unwanted modules, namespaces, classes, and methods like XML serializers from any or all projects in the data store.
See The Future Now
We are excited to open up our NCover 5.1 Beta Program to the general public so that everyone can see what we have in store. We would love any feedback you have regarding NCover 5.1 Beta, as we want to make this release as great as possible. Remember, this is a Beta, so please do not deploy in your production environment just yet and be sure to back up any data prior to upgrading to NCover 5.1 Beta.
